She's part of the founding chapter of Heirs to Our Oceans, a global movement of youth taking the ocean crisis into their own hands by educating themselves and others and processing and advocating for solutions, and she is 14 years old.

Post Airing Notes from Sophia Fitzmedrud:
“Around 13:35, I said something like, “anything that affects one piece [of an ecosystem] usually affects the rest of the network,” when it would be more accurate to say something closer to “has the potential to affect” or “can affect.”
Around 15:50, I accidentally implied that Pacific Bluefin Tuna are canned. (They’re not.) Albacore and other species of Tuna are more often canned, since Bluefin don’t taste very good to humans cooked.
Around ~16:00, it was implied that Pacific Bluefin Tuna are endangered. Technically, they don’t have that legal classification.” -Sophia
